Phase I Session Topics
The following medical specialty topics are covered during Day One and Day Two of Phase I.
Neurology
Neurology is the study and treatment of disorders of the nervous system (such as the brain, spinal cord and nerves). A doctor who specializes in neurology is called a neurologist.
Cardiology
Cardiology is the study and treatment of disorders of the heart and the blood vessels. A doctor who specializes in cardiology is called a cardiologist.
Pediatrics/Nephrology
Pediatricians provide primary care to children and adolescents.
Nephrology is the study and treatment of disorders of the kidneys. A doctor who specializes in nephrology is called a nephrologist.
Emergency Medicine
Emergency medicine doctors primarily work in the emergency departments, or emergency “rooms.” Emergency medicine doctors stabilize and treat patients who are experiencing acute health problems or traumatic injuries.
